Crispy Shredded Beef, tender bites coated in a sweet and savoury sauce. This easy recipe comes together in less than 30 minutes. Serve it with rice and broccoli for a delicious meal and add cashew nuts as an optional extra.
Ingredients
Sauce Recipe:
- ¼ cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- ¼ cup Tomato Ketchup
- 4 tbsp Honey
- 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 2 tbsp Sweet chilli sauce
- 3 cloves garlic
- ½ tsp Chilli Flakes (optional)
Chicken Recipe:
- 650 g Chicken (1 inch pieces)
- ½ cup Cornflour
- ½ tsp Salt
- ½ tsp Black pepper (ground)
- 2 cups Frying Oil
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce by combining all sauce ingredients in a bowl and mixing until combined. Set aside.
- In a wide, shallow dish or pie plate, combine cornstarch, salt and pepper. Mix until combined.
- Coat the beef pieces in the corn flour ensuring all sides are coated.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, use tongs to add the coated beef to the pan. Cook until the chicken is browned and cooked through, turn to cook evenly, about 10 minutes. If the chicken is browning too much before it is cooked through, turn down the heat a little but remember that crispy is the goal!
- In a separate pan, add your sauce ingredients and place on low heat. Once you have simmered for 3-5 minutes, add your cooked beef straight from the hot oil into the sauce. This keeps the meat crispy but coats fully in the sauce.
- Serve immediately with rice and sprinkled with chopped spring onion and sesame seeds.
